My first real quilt was an attic window for DH's mom and step-dad. I didn't know then, that it was a difficult pattern. At least the way I did it was difficult! I didn't even know about rotary cutters in those days! They admired it, stuffed it in a plastic bag, and put it "away". Twenty yrs later, when we cleaned out their house, it was still on the top shelf of the closet, still in that bag.

I used El's books (several of them) and did a patriotic sampler quilt for my husband. It was supposed to be a wall hanging but I kept finding more blocks I liked so it is a king size quilt. Loved using her patterns.

My first quilt was a Hunter's Star. I traced each piece around cardboard templates, and cut the pieces out with scissors! It is a king size quilt that is still on our bed. Then I found Eleanor's show on PBS! Quilting is a lot more fun now that I know her time saving methods!

Fence Rail and it's still on my bed. Next was El's Log Cabin. Then a Trip Around the World. And on and on she goes.
