Christmas in July swap complete

Post by Marilynsgrammy » Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:32 pm

Our head Santa is taking a much needed rest this year and I offered to fill in for the annual Christmas in July swap.

PLEASE READ THROUGH AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE SIGNING UP.

20 spots available:
The number of sign-ups determines the number of blocks you will make. If we don't have a full swap (20 sign-ups) in the last 2 days of signup period, you can request to make a second set of blocks in a different pattern. Once you sign up it's a commitment.

2 weeks to sign up. Now through Thursday, July 17th.

10 weeks to make your blocks and send them to me. All blocks will need to be mailed to me no later than Thursday, September 11th. I have plenty of room to store them if you want to send them early.

I will mail the blocks back to you Saturday, September 21st or sooner.

Mail blocks to me using Flat Rate Priority Mail and save your receipt, it will have your tracking number on it. Blocks must be in my possession by Wednesday, September 18th so I can sort and mail them back to you by Saturday, September 21st.

If I don’t have tracking from you by September 13th I will not wait for your blocks to arrive.

Please include $10.60 for return Postage (please make sure to check if postage has gone up and send enough to have your blocks returned), no stamps, no checks, international will be worked out individually. I have Flat Rate Priority Mail envelopes to send your blocks back to you so please don't send return envelopes. NOTE: as of right now postage is $10.60 but is expected to increase. Please check to see the actual postage before mailing your blocks.

Please attach a label to each block with your forum name, real name, city and state. No individual baggies. Put your blocks in a large zip lock bag with your address on it before sending them to me.

THE FUN PART.

Background fabric = White or White on White (WOW) WOW. All fabric must be 100% cotton, no muslin.

Size= Blocks should be a generous 12 1/2 inches. Do not square up your blocks. Before sorting I will measure every block using my Creative Grids 12 1/2-inch ruler. If they are too small, I will need to send them back to you using your postage.

Colors: Red, Green, Gold, Silver, Christmas prints, accent colors as needed. No glitter or shiny fabric

Theme: Christmas. Some suggestions are: Nativity, trees, Santa, reindeer, poinsettias, Christmas stars, Dresden plate or Log cabin or other block using Christmas fabric, you get the idea.

Block making method: applique (must be sewn down and any stabilizer must be removed), regular pieced, paper pieced (all paper must be removed), No machine embroidery, although embroidery can be used as a decoration.

Each set of blocks you make must be the same pattern. Please post (if possible) or send me a picture to post so we can see a sample of your block

Buttons, rick rack, bling, and other embellishments are fine. Please make sure to sew them down/on, I prefer to take something off if I need to quilt around it than to have 20 envelopes attached for people to complete blocks when they get them.

Make sure your blocks are ready for the person receiving them to square up and sew together. Please measure, measure, measure and be sure each block is at least 12½" square, hopefully a little extra so there's enough room for receivers to square up.

If you send incomplete blocks or your blocks are not the required size and of the required fabric they will be returned to you using your postage. Be sure to re-check the size before mailing. I stress this; check each and every block for size BEFORE mailing them to me, I will check them again when they arrive.

THE FINE PRINT.

Signing up is an obligation/contract and you are expected to follow through and it needs to be taken seriously. If you are a person who can't send on time or if you think the rules are too strict, please don't sign up for this swap.

Communication and follow through are key. If you have any questions please send me a pm and ask prior to taking a spot in this swap. If you have any problems or concerns, PM me and we can take care of it in private so it doesn’t cause problems on the forum. If you join you must comment in the swap thread once a week...... I use only this forum, cell and e-mail for communication. If you need my cell number or e-mail address, please PM me.

Let the sign ups begin and lets have a fun, exciting and smooth swap.

We've almost got a row, woo hoo.

We've got Lori, her sister Mary and her other sister Mary (Remember Larry, his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl) And we have Chriss, the inn keeper. Who else is going to play?

You're in Kathy,

Looks like we've got six so far, that's a table runner.

I think I want to make an angel. I'll go through my fabrics and try to work up a sample this afternoon.
