April Lotto - and the winner is:
Welcome to APRIL SHOWERS
For this months lotto, since we are expecting showers this month, we need to have some umbrellas to keep us dry. Here is a link to the tutorial.
https://www.kellifanninquilts.com/2020/ ... l.html?m=1
Fabric requirements - any background that looks like rain, storm, something that would require an umbrella to be used. I have chosen a light with black specks (sprinkling) and a grey sky with lightening. Use your imagination. Umbrellas can be any color you would like. This is an 8 1/2 inch block. Some tips that you may find helpful:
1. Right sides together when you sew always makes for a prettier block!
2. When cutting 8 1/2 inch strips, cut a bit bigger, they shrink when you sew them together. I cut mine 9 inches and cut them down after sewn together, that seems to work. I also used an 2.1 size stitch. Tighter stitching also seems to shrink them.
3. The one inch squares are hard to hold onto but pin if you need to.
4. The handle only goes one way (yes Jack and I had a few dates!) Pay attention
5. These are quick (less than an hour after you pick out fabric)
6. Please ask if you have any questions.

Very cute idea. Love your colors. Might just need to do a few. I don’t know that I have any fabrics representing rain but I know I have some wonderful fabrics to make an umbrella I would want to hold in the rain.
I’ll be “Singing” in the rain if it is allowed.

Plain light background is fine.

Re: April Lotto
I have to look at fabrics and see what's there.
Will revisit the directions again and see what size pieces I will need.

I made 4 so far... Once I got the hang of it... it wasn't that hard. I've never done such tiny pieces before those Oh my goodness 1" squares!!!
Since it isn't even April yet, I'm going to hang on to these, I Might just whip up a few more!
