Wow, October already! Hope you are all getting ready for the little ghosts and goblins.
This month after much thought and searching, I have decided to present a little challenge. The challenge is (should you decide to accept it) is:
1. Pick your own block or blocks (preferably different blocks)
2. Pick your own fabric!
Sounds easy right! Here is the catch:
a. You may under no circumstances buy fabric for this challenge! You must pull from you scrap bin! or trade with other quilters is an option too!
b. Your block(s) must be 12.5 inches (please do not square up)
c. You must pick a skill or more that you intend to work on this month (mine is half square triangles and color placement) Yes, I agree, these both need some more work!
d. You must post what that skill is
e. Please feel free to play with color/fabrics (ie: use a background color you would not usually use, use a fabric you think is ugly, etc)
f. The block pattern does not have to be difficult, it must contain your skill choice though.
g. Please ask if you have any questions
Here are 2 I have done so far:
This will develop into a perfect scrappy sampler quilt!

Re: October lotto
Oh boy. Now that is a challenge!
I’m always up for a challenge
edited to add:
Log cabin is not my favorite pattern, but I think it's because I have such a hard time getting them squared up without being wonky or twisted. So I think (and this may change) that I'm going to challenge myself to make some pretty darn near perfect Log cabins... either whole or halves. There are so many other things I could work on I suppose... straight seams, even seams etc.. But I figure If I can conquer Log Cabin, I'll be able to make the quilt I want to do for my niece's wedding.!!

Re: October lotto
Great idea, I love scrappy and have a few pieces of fabric in my scrap bin. And I have a couple of ideas for this challenge.

Re: October lotto
Excellent choice Mary! Log cabins are harder than they look. Mine never are quite perfect either.
Thank you Lois. The star one was challenging. The green background one is not exactly what I had planned. I wanted the fabric more scattered. May need to give that one a second shot.

Oh I have scraps. I'll join in this month. I'm getting a new Accuquilt die today. I'll give that one a try.

Re: October lotto
Lori, sounds like your scraps will succumb to that new die. Get it? succumb / die. See how I did that? I crack me up.
